If you’re looking for a fun, colourful makeup look but have no idea where to begin, you’ve come to right place.
Bright, bold eyeshadows are perfect for those who tend to be stuck in their comfort zone – and by comfort zone, I mean unwilling to move beyond the basic nudes.
Most people think they need blue or green eyes in order for their eyeshadows to pop, but that’s not true. Brown eyes are gorgeous with most hues, but especially with jewel toned colours, like purple, emerald and sapphire blue.
So, if you’re a brown eyed beauty, you don’t have to stick to bone or copper. Your eyes can pop with a beautiful blue.
For this makeup look, I dug into my cosmetic case and pulled out my $9.99 Color Story Tropical Glow palette and my Milani Gilded Noir palette.
Both palettes are gorgeous, but the Milani palette, is my favourite. It features dramatic jewel toned colours with metallic, satin, matte and pearl finishes.
The Tropical Glow palette (pressed pigment) is beautiful, but can be a bit chalky. So, you have to make sure you wear a good eyeshadow primer and prop it up with colours from another palette.
The Process
To achieve this bomb, colourful look, I started off by priming my eyelids. I used one from Milani that I bought for about $7.
Next, I applied Milani’s No Pictures to my crease. This pink colour is highly pigmented and easy to blend. A little goes a long way.
I wanted to create more depth with the pink, so I used Color Story’s Hibiscus to assist. it’s a bright, highly pigmented pink that I absolutely love.
For the blues, I used Color Story’s Laguna. This colour is the superstar of this palette. It’s a beautiful, calming rich blue hue that anyone would fall in love with. I then went in my outer v-corner with Milani’s Gasp. It’s a sparkly blue that would truly make you gasp when you see it in person.
To create more colour in eye’s outer v-area, I went in with Milani’s Dark Side and under my eyebrow, I used Milani’s entitled.
The trick to making this look come alive is to blend blend blend. I finished the look off with some liquid eyeliner for my top lash line, regular black eyeliner for the lower lash, some mascara on my eyelashes and then I applied false eyelashes to the top to give my eyes more oomph.
In the picture below, I decided to pair my bold eyeshadow look with a simple lipstick so that my eyes pop more.
This look was so easy to create that anyone can do it. You just need a little time and patience, and a lot of creativity.
Don’t be afraid of colour. I’m an island gyal who loves vibrant hues, so you can bet that I will sport some fun, bold look.
XOXO,
This Bahamian Gyal
