Put your boots on, DC – Queen Bey is riding through as the Cowboy Carter tour comes to town.
Beyoncé and her posse are bringing her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter tour to the DC metro area for two days starting today and the city is losing its mind.
The 35-time Grammy winner is putting on two huge performances at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland on July 4 and July 7 – the first show coincides with Fourth of July celebrations.

Earlier this year Beyoncé won Grammy awards for Cowboy Carter, including Album of the Year and Best Country Album.
As a huge country music fan, I was happy to see Beyoncé delve into the genre.
However, I admit that when she announced this tour, I wasn’t excited – mostly because while I like a few songs from the album, it’s not my favourite in her catalogue.
Luckily, many of the songs have since grown on me.
For those of you who are curious, the Cowboy Carter tour doesn’t solely feature country music.
Beyoncé is incorporating some of her famous hits into her performance. So, there is something for everyone.
The Cowboy Carter Tour Is One Big Costume Party
If you’ve been scrolling on Instagram or TikTok lately, you more than likely came across a lot of people dressed like they’re heading to the rodeo with their western-themed garb.
You can thank Beyoncé for that.

That’s because the Texas Hold ‘Em star structures her concerts in such a way that she encourages grown-ups to dress up in costumes and feel like kids again. I love that fun element of her shows.
Beyoncé is known for her stunning visuals, from powerful choreography to mechanical bulls, flying cars and moving stage props. So, this is going to be a spectacular show.
Clothing Stores Are Getting In On The Cowboy Carter Tour Action
As I mentioned, the first Cowboy Carter concert takes place Friday and it’s quite obvious that many locals will be attending.
I was in three malls over the past two days alone and could not pass a store without seeing cowboy boots, cowboy hats and western-themed outfits in the windows. Many stores sold out of items due to the concert.
Also, stores like Akira and Windsor have dedicated clothing sections for the Cowboy Carter tour.

Akira really hit the ball out of the park with its curated collections. The store even named certain sections after songs on the Cowboy Carter album. Oh, so clever.
I ended up buying a cowboy hat from Windsor and some really cool boots from Akira. I will share my final look in a separate post.
So, if you’re going to the concert and are still looking for boots and clothes to wear, try those two stores before everything is gone.
What To Wear To The Cowboy Carter Tour?
Obviously the Cowboy Carter tour has a western theme, so expect to see cowboy hats, cowboy boots, bandanas, lots of sparkle, fringe jackets and even some sparkly silver leftover costumes from the Renaissance concert.
While shopping, I saw ladies buying a lot of fringe boots, denim jackets, pants and skirts.
Even the beauty supply stores were filled with women buying last-minute wigs and weaves.
I expect to see a lot of bold red lips and big hair underneath those cowboy hats.
Beyoncé is a showwoman. So, expect elaborate costume changes.
I have no doubt she will be wearing something incredible for the Fourth of July. Four is also Beyoncé’s favourite number is four. So, expect her to show out.

Getting To The Stadium: Don’t Drive If You Can Help It
If you’re attending the concert, your best bet would be to take the metro, use a ride share like Lyft or Uber or have someone drop you off.
Many DMV residents reported getting their cars towed during the last concert. So, I wouldn’t drive if I were you.
I remember Beyoncé’s team paid to extend the metro’s operational hours because her concert ran late due to bad weather.
Also, please note that your ride share will be more expensive due to demand. So, prepare for that.
Don’t Bring Cash – They Won’t Take It
The Cowboy Carter tour is cashless. So, if you plan on buying drinks, food or mech, you will need to have a debit or credit card on hand.
According to concertgoers, they will not accept cash.
Prepare For Tight Security
This is not the place to act a fool. This is a major event with a global superstar. Security will be tight.
Bags will be searched, so bring a small purse or nothing at all if you can help it. You can also opt for see-through bags to make security checks even quicker.
FYI, this tour starts on time. So, be in place and ready to party.
Beyonce Is A Must-See Act
Everyone should see Beyoncé at least once in their lives.
So many of my friends have gone to Beyoncé concerts, I feel I am one of the few who hasn’t. But, seeing that she is going to be in my backyard yet again, I plan to take advantage.
The last time Beyoncé was in town, the weather was horrible and concertgoers got soaked due to torrential rain. So, I didn’t regret not attending.
I am hoping the weather will be just right for the show.
If I know DC, Maryland and Virginia natives, they are going to show Beyoncé a good time. After all, this ain’t Texas. This is the DMV.
Bey-haw!
Thanks so much for this. I am going tonight. Was thinking of driving, but wasn’t sure of the parking situation. I won’t be doing that anymore.
Thank you so much for the info!
