In a couple of days, I’ll be on my way to Ireland!
That’s right, these Bahamian eyes will be smiling all the way to the Emerald Isle or as Jay-Z would say, I’ll be bubblin’ in Dublin.
This is going to be my first trip to Europe, can you believe it?
Ireland has always been on my bucket list and now, I finally get the chance to head to this beautiful country.
I first fell in love with the country in my teens after meeting a girl from Belfast. Her name was Kathleen. We were both in a youth program called the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and she came to The Bahamas to fulfill a part of her program. I absolutely fell in love with her accent. She told me all about Ireland and how beautiful it was. I told myself that one day I was going to go there. That day has finally come.
This is sort of a delayed birthday trip that was planned months ago. I was supposed to go to Tokyo for two weeks, but after the hotel prices skyrocketed, I said I would save that trip for 2020. That hiccup gave me an opportunity to go to Ireland – somewhere I have been dreaming of going for years.
So Much To Do
I am a planner. My family and friends always depend on me to plan our trips because they know it’s going to be done right. I always think worst case scenario so that everything runs smoothly.
I have been spending the past couple days putting together an incredible itinerary.
My favorite part, besides booking the flight, is searching for things to do. I love to shop, but having memorable experiences is my absolute favorite part.
I know it’s kind of expected that I would do the usual stuff like touring the Guinness Storehouse, I think that’s Dublin’s #1 tourist attraction, and I’ll certainly do that. But, I plan on doing ghost tours, biking through the city and perhaps even getting into a hot air balloon ride. That’s another item on my bucket list.
I’m getting excited and I haven’t even gotten there, yet. I’ve been scouring the internet looking for tips on how to dress and where to go. So far, it’s been great.
Not Feeling The Long Ride
One thing I’m not looking forward to is the long ride to Europe. I’m going to be on an eight- and-a-half long flight to London, then it’s another hour-and-a-half to Dublin.
I love airplanes, but I don’t like travelling that long in confined places.
Last year, I travelled to California and my flight took five hours. I thought I was going to go crazy. I never sleep in planes, ever. I don’t know why, I just can’t seem to go to sleep. I can never find a comfortable position and besides, I like to be alert in cases of emergency.
I checked the weather and it looks like it’ll be raining the whole time, not to mention it will be chilly. I’m just praying that we get at least two sunny days while I’m there. I’m going to take the sunshine with me and brighten up the place.
I can’t wait to blog and vlog about my time in Ireland. Be sure to keep posted to my social media pages to follow along. It’s going to be incredible.

This is so awesome Rogan! I love the idea of biking and a hot air ballon ride. I too find it difficult to fall asleep on flights, even if I’m exhausted. I can’t wait to read your first blog from Europe ?!
