My Sunday reset ritual isn’t just some ordinary routine. It’s sacred. It’s the personal time I set aside to nourish my mind, body and soul. It allows me to leave behind the chaos of the previous week and recharge by babying myself.
This routine is not about preparing for Monday. It’s about carving out space for self-care, mindfulness and gratitude.
I work hard. Extremely hard.

Sometimes, when I’m working, I don’t even stop to eat. My work takes me late into the evening hours and even early into the morning hours, and I stop only when my head hurts.
I don’t say any of this with pride because It’s not healthy. I just want to be honest with you and show you why I take my Sunday reset ritual so seriously. It’s the one day I have when I commit myself to doing nothing but getting still and enjoying my rest.

With that being said, here are a few ways I reset my life on Sunday.
1. Journaling and Talking to God: Inner Reflection
Journaling has become an essential part of my Sunday reset routine.
I pull out my laptop and pour my thoughts onto the screen. The words just flow. This is not new for me. I have journaled since I was a teenager. It’s an act of self-expression that helps me process everything that’s been weighing on my heart, whether it’s gratitude, worries, or aspirations for the week ahead.

This quiet time of reflection also gives me the perfect time to talk to God. I get honest with Him, reflect on my faith, and ask for guidance. I also do a lot of arguing with Him. It’s a mostly one-sided beef, but that’s a story for another day.
Basically, I tell Him how grateful I am for everything He’s done for me and my family. Gratitude puts a lot of things in perspective.

2. Opening My Windows & Connecting With Nature Are Crucial To My Sunday Reset Ritual
One of the most soothing aspects of my Sunday reset is the feeling I get when I open my sliding door.
I let the fresh air fill my home, and I listen to the sounds of the world outside. I live in Washington, DC, so there a lot of sounds – choppers cutting through the sky, airplanes, police sirens. These sounds give the city life.

What I especially love, though, are the sweet sounds of chirping birds, rustling leaves, and my personal favourite – rain. In fact, it was raining earlier making my space feel even cooler and cozier.
Opening my sliding door allows me to reconnect with the world beyond my home. The outdoors provide a soothing soundtrack that sets my mind and spirit at ease.
3. Going to Church Nourishes My Soul
On Sundays, I go to church.
Just typing that makes me chuckle, because if you knew me 10 years ago, you would know that I hated church. So, the fact that I eagerly rise and drive to church with a smile on my face is hilarious.
There’s something special about church on Sunday mornings. It just brings me peace. There are fewer cars on the road (at least it seems that way), and I love seeing my church members laughing and talking to one another. It gives me community.
Listening to my pastor speak allows me to really reflect on Gods’s word and pray for my church. It helps with my spiritual growth and reflection.

4. Cooking Sunday Dinner: A Labor Of Love
Cooking dinner is a must on Sunday. I grew up in The Bahamas where Sunday meals are a big deal. Since living in the US, I have sort of dropped that tradition in favor of quicker meals or sometimes just eating out.
But, in the past eight months or so, I have gotten back to my roots – cooking my Sunday meals.
I love trying out new recipes – like this pasta e fagioli recipe that I came across on YouTube courtesy of A Simple Palate. I made it for the first time nearly two months ago, now it’s one of my staples.

As I chop vegetables, stir sauces, and taste along the way, I’m reminded of the beauty in slowing down and savouring the process.
The smell of freshly cooked food, the sound of a simmering pot – it all creates a comforting ambiance that sets the tone for the day.
I play some Jazz in the background – anything from Billie Holiday. I especially love I’ll Be Seeing You or I’ll listen to a Jazz Cafe playlist from YouTube.
5. No TV Until Late: A Digital Detox Is Key In A Sunday Reset Ritual
In an age where screens often dominate our time, I try to make a conscious effort to stay away from television until very late in the evening. It’s important to give myself a break from the constant influx of information.
Instead, I create to-do lists for the upcoming week, catch up on magazines and books or just sit in quiet contemplation.
Disconnecting from connected things is especially powerful in my Sunday reset ritual.
Later that evening, I’ll turn on some of my favourite YouTubers like Monroe Steele of Fashion Steele NYC or Kelly Stamps.

6. Taking A Soothing Bath Helps Me Unwind
Once dinner is simmering or in the oven, it’s time for my bath. Dr. Teal’s Foaming Bath with pure epsom salt is my go-to. I’ve always found the warm water, combined with lavender fragrance to be incredibly relaxing.
I light some candles, dim the lights, and let the stress of the week melt away. The bath isn’t just about cleaning my body; it’s a ritual of cleansing my mind and spirit.
I enjoy the silence.
7. My Skincare Routine Is A Huge Part of My Sunday Reset Ritual
Before I call it a day, I give myself the luxury of indulging in my skincare routine.
It’s the perfect way to close out my Sunday reset and is a small act of self-care that leaves me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. I take my time, applying each product slowly, appreciating how it feels on my skin.
I don’t go to spas often (although I should), so this is my way of getting a spa day in my own home.

8. Final Thoughts: A Peaceful Mind for the Week Ahead
Let me stress one thing I try hard not to do on Sundays – clean.
My Sunday reset ritual works best when I am not cleaning. Instead, I tidy up through the week and especially on Saturdays.
It’s impossible not to wash a dish or two, but I’m taking about bigger things – like washing and mopping. None of that happens on Sunday,

When I complete my Sunday reset routine, I feel lighter, more centered, and ready for whatever the week holds. By giving myself this time to recharge, I’m able to step into Monday with a sense of calm and clarity.
Hopefully, this blog post has given you some great ideas to reset your Sunday.
How do you take time to recharge? I’d love to hear about it in the comments section.

Hi beautiful! Haha…It’s so good to hear that I’m not alone and that there are other people out there, too who didn’t enjoy church at first, but turned it around. It’s so good to have sound relationships with your church family!

Just reading this was soothing as hell. I need to get back to a Sunday routine as well. I haven’t journaled in YEARS!!!! Not the traditional way, at least. I need to get back to that. Thanks for a refreshing post about self-care and sefl-love. Praying that all of your Sundays moving forward are more serene and filled with joy babe!
Thank you soooo much. What a compliment! I still journal on paper from time to time, but it’s always easier for me to do it on my computer. Helps me get my thoughts out quicker.
Yes, I am all about the self-care. I have one body, one life. Thanks so much for reading! 😘
