Today is National Watermelon Day. What better way to celebrate than with a slice of this sweet, juicy fruit and a fun watermelon eye look to match.
Summer is the perfect time to pull off bold colours that you ordinarily wouldn’t wear throughout the rest of the year.
Pink and red hues always make a winning match with neons and vibrant greens.
Before settling on a look, I scoured the Internet for days looking for the right look. Many of the eyeshadows were literally applied to resemble a watermelon. At first, I practiced those looks. But, they just weren’t for me.
I eventually settled on a look that I think I would be comfortable wearing outside of my home.
What I Was Going For
I knew that creating a watermelon eye look would require me getting a palette with some juicy reds and greens. So, I picked up this Perfect 23 palette from my local beauty store. I spent about $5. I’m all about affordable looks. Be sure to check out my blog post about some of my favourite summer lipsticks.
While experimenting with the look, I let the green dominate. But, I quickly changed my mind because watermelons have bright red centres. So, I changed it.
It’s sad that you cannot see the greens in the photo because trust me, it’s there and it’s beautiful.
This look could very easily look Halloween-ish or clown-like, which is why I skipped the traditional looks that were on the internet.
The trick to making this look work is to blend out the colours. That way, you avoid having harsh lines that show where the makeup starts and stops.
The best part about this photo shoot is that I got to gobble down all of that juicy watermelon when I was done.
I hope you all enjoy the look. Leave comments down below.
