For as long as I can remember, I have been an unapologetic fan of The Tribune’s Weekend magazine.
As a creative and a true lover of entertainment, culture, and storytelling, this publication has always held a special place in my heart.

It’s my go-to for staying connected to what’s happening in Nassau, and I love that it consistently shines a spotlight on Bahamian talent — from actors and singers to chefs, creatives, and fellow bloggers who inspire me every day.
This Bahamian Gyal Featured In Tribune Weekend
That’s why being featured in Weekend felt surreal. And not just featured — I was the cover girl.
This moment means more to me than I can fully put into words, especially because it comes as This Bahamian Gyal celebrates its one-year anniversary.
In just twelve months, this little blog has grown in ways I never imagined. What started as a passion project has blossomed into a platform that’s been recognized, supported, and embraced by so many.
The excitement around this feature was real — I literally had to visit four different stores before I could get my hands on a copy of the newspaper because they were completely sold out. That only heightened my anticipation and made the moment even sweeter.
This Bahamian Gyal’s Tribune Weekend Cover Moment

In the article, I sat down with journalist Cara Hunt to talk about my journey: how This Bahamian Gyal came to life, how I keep the content fresh and relatable (with plenty of inspiration from my family), and the realities, challenges, and lingering stigmas Bahamian bloggers continue to face.

I’ve been honored with several award nominations along the way, including my most recent nod for the Elevation Award, which takes place next month. Truly, This Bahamian Gyal is the little blog that could.
It’s an honest, thoughtful conversation — and yes, I’ll admit, I think it’s a great read… though I may be slightly biased. 😉

To everyone who has supported, encouraged, read, shared, and believed in this journey — thank you. Your love means everything to me.
Keep reading. I’ll keep writing.
