Tech Toys
1. Apple iMac computer
The Apple iMac desktop is the most superior machine on planet Earth. With its sleek design and excellent capabilities, this is sure to be a winner on Christmas morning. I used to be a PC girl until a tech-savvy friend convinced me to give Apple a go with a laptop. I kicked myself for waiting so long.
This machine is versatile, stylish and has high functionalities. I do all of my blogging from my 21.5 inch computer, which I bought off of Amazon. The best part: no viruses. Like, ever.
2. Gimbal stabiliser for your smartphone
You don’t have to be a YouTuber to want a Gimbal stabiliser. If you’re a budding filmmaker, the designated family cameraperson or just want to make great TikTok videos that aren’t jittery, you’ll need a gimbal. I love this Zhiyun 5s, which is compatible with Apple and Android smartphones.
Amazon has several terrific gimbals at budget-friendly price points, but this one does it for me. You’ll wonder how you ever managed without one.
3. Neewer LED video lights
Ok, so as a content creator, I know the importance of having great lights. For the most part I use a ring light and several umbrella lights, but to take my content to the next level, I know I’m going to need to invest in some Neewer LED lights.
This twin pack features 360-degree full colour, 50W dimmable lights and is perfect for Zoom meetings, photography, gaming and streaming. I’ve seen it in action. It’s a game-changer.
4.Ulanzi vlogging kit
Vloggers who want the tools of their trade at their disposal, might want to seriously consider Ulanzi’s vlogging kit on Amazon. I have this rigging kit and it makes recording on the go so much easier as it features a stand that holds your microphone and light.
5. Seagate hard drive
This five terabyte external hard drive by Seagate gets the job done over and over again. It boasts incredible storage and is the only place I store my YouTube videos, photos and other important documents. It’s never let me down. This is not just a must-have item for techies. If you have a kid who is in high school or college, they’re going to need the extra storage. Trust me.
Beauty
6. My Burberry Blush or My Burberry Black
Burberry never disappoints. Ever. Both of these fragrances are memorable and long-lasting. Whenever I wear these beauties I get compliments. The sillage is incredible. I can put it on at 7am and still smell it at 9pm. While it lingers, it’s not obnoxious.
7. Fenty Beauty’s Stunna Lip Paint
Rihanna’s cosmetic company knows what it’s doing. This Stunna Lip Paint is proof of that. It’s a head turner that instantly makes a woman feel sexy. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Rihanna wears it often. So, the lady in your life can feel like she’s twinning with the Bajan beauty.
8. Belif’s 3-piece Holly Jolly Hydration Moisturising Bomb Holiday Set
I am a believer. I can honestly say that no other moisturiser has ever treated my skin so beautifully.
Sephora gave me a sample of Belif’s Aqua Bomb several years ago and I never opened the package to put it on my face. It was only when I ran out of my regular moisturiser and had to use something that I even tore open the sample. The rest is history.
My skin drinks this stuff and it feels so light. Not to mention it smells terrific.
9. Beauty sponges
If you wear makeup – particularly foundation – you’re going to want beauty sponges. They come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, but they help your makeup go on smoothly.
I tend to run through these sponges very quickly because my foundation messes them up and it’s almost impossible to clean them so that they look brand new. So, if you wear makeup or know someone who does, trust me when I say they will thank you for the lovely brand new sponges.
10. Baccarat Rouge 540
Get. this. damned. perfume. now. I cannot sing its praises enough. It is the iconic perfume that every man and woman will want in their fragrance arsenal. Fun fact: Rihanna loves it, too.
Add shoes to your Christmas shopping list
11. Doc Martens
I recently came across some faux patent leather Doc Martens boots that took my breath away. It’s festive enough for the holiday season, yet dressy enough for evening or late afternoon jaunts.
12. Converse
I love Converse sneakers. I have wide feet, so they are perfect for me. LOL. I also love that they come in a wide variety of styles and colours. I especially love the jagged, saw-tooth sneakers that have been cropping up everywhere. Definitely a must-have this holiday season.
13. Mary Janes
Can I tell you I used to hate Mary Janes. My mummy forced me to wear these when I was a little girl and I absolutely hated them. Now, as an adult I have fallen in love with the youthful look of these shoes. I think the lady in your life would enjoy these shoes.
14. Thigh-high boots
One of the reasons I loved watching Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts is because I absolutely adored her thigh-high boots. These boots used to be attached to ladies of the night, but have become quite the fashion staple over the years. Aldo has a number of beautiful, yet comfortable thigh-high boots that are worth taking a look at.
15. Colourful Nike sneakers
You can’t go wrong with a pair of colourful Nike sneakers. You just can’t. Nike nails it every time with the wide variety of options it sells. Even though yellow is not considered a holiday colour, I love that it was prominently on display with the sneakers this season. Remember, the holidays are very brief.
Household items
16. Kitchen apron
Ok, I knew I was officially an adult when I bought an apron. I enjoy cooking, but can never seem to not mess up my clothes when I am preparing dishes. That’s where the apron comes in. The woman, man or child in your life will enjoy a festive-looking apron for them to make delicious holiday meals. It’s a gift you can use year-round. This one is totally adorable.
17. Jewellery dish
This is something people often overlook, but I feel almost everyone has some piece of jewellery that they need to store in a handy place. A monogrammed jewellery dish is perfect for catching a watch, earrings, or cufflinks. They are also relatively expensive – like under $20.
18. Dutch oven
If you enjoy making oxtails as much as I do, you know the benefit of having a high-performing dutch oven. I plan to get one in fire engine red for a nice pop of colour in my kitchen. Again, it’s one of those grown-up things that every woman would enjoy having.
19. Smart Garden 9
If you’ve never heard of the Smart Garden 9, you’re in for a real treat. It’s an indoor garden that basically takes care of itself. I know so many people who live in apartments, dorms and condos who don’t have access to outdoor space, but they want to grow herbs, fruits and vegetables. This is the perfect solution.
Now, I have to admit, I don’t own this item and I have mixed reviews for this item, one of the cons is that it has a few designs in the flaw, but overall, I’ve seen some good reviews and I am seriously considering buying this item.
20. Candles
Don’t sleep on candles for the holidays. I think most people appreciate a good candle to scent up the home during the holidays. Just be sure to ask the person you’re buying for what types of fragrances they love. Nothing worse than buying a candle for someone who hates the smell of cinnamon….like me.
The best personal care Christmas gift ideas
21. Eyeglasses
During the holiday season and our Christmas shopping we tend to overlook the important gifts that people need. I’m sure there is someone in your life who either needs their eyes tested or to have a pair of glasses. Glasses are not cheap. Frames and lenses can be quite expensive for a good pair. So, consider buying some glasses for your friend or loved one.
22. Dental work
I know I’m going to get a few chuckles for this suggestion, but is a smartphone more important than fixing a broken tooth or filling a tooth? No, it’s not. Consider paying for some dental work for someone in your life this holiday season. If you ask me, it’s one of the best Christmas gift ideas on the market.
23. Massage or facial
I wish someone would give me a gift certificate for a massage or facial, or even better, both. We rarely do self-care throughout the year. Some of us neglect ourselves because we don’t see the need to spend money on ourselves. So, if someone in your life works hard, especially if they do physical work, a massage or facial are some of the best Christmas gifts money can buy.
24. Buy a gratitude journal
Sometimes it’s easy to lose stock of what’s important, particularly our many blessings. One of my favourite Christmas gift ideas is to buy a loved one a gratitude journal. Those journals are always fun to look back on because they give us perspective.
25. The ultimate Christmas gift idea: Donate to a homeless person or shelter
This, by far, is the greatest Christmas gift idea this season. I am very passionate about helping homeless people in my community. In 2016, I visited California with a friend of mine and we were absolutely flabbergasted by the amount of homeless people in the state.
DC is not as bad as California, but it does have a large number of homeless people. This Christmas, think of those folks who don’t have shelter and give in any way you can. You can give directly to that person, or you can support an organisation. One of my absolute favourite organisations is Friendship Place in DC. This organisation works to end homelessness and rebuild lives.
When I moved to DC, I immediately sought out a place to assist and I love the work that they do. Of course, you can donate to anyone and any organisation you choose. Just help someone this Christmas. That is what Christmas is all about.
Merry Christmas!
XOXO,
This Bahamian Gyal
