During my recent trip to the UK, I treated myself to a luxurious afternoon tea at Josephine’s of Nottingham, a delightful tea lounge and bistro located in the heart of Nottingham City near the Theatre Royal.
Actually, it was my niece who encouraged me to go for tea.
She lives in Nottingham and always wanted to do afternoon tea with a friend.
So, during my trip, we went.

Our intention was to get all dolled up and dine in like two posh ladies.
We even spent several days scouring for the cutest outfits for our tea date. But, Nottingham’s frigid weather scrapped those plans.
I also developed the worst cold on this trip, so hot tea was just what I needed.
What To Expect?
Josephine’s of Nottingham is a family-run business that is known for its wonderful menu, which boasts more than 30 luxury loose leaf teas.
Its menu also features some great English classics.
Initially, we didn’t know what to expect because neither of us had ever been to a tea room. I thought we would be bored with bland selections and snobby workers. But, it was nothing like that.

The tea house is absolutely divine.
It felt cosy, fun and at the same time, very elevated – like a place a few senators might pop in to for tea.
I love that the tea house had these large windows that allowed patrons to take in the spectacular city views.

My niece and I took our seats near the window and we could not have been more pleased.
The staff were lovely and answered every question we had.

What We Tried At Josephine’s Of Nottingham
We decided to take part in the afternoon tea, which came with bottomless teas of every imaginable variety, fizzy drink cocktails, sandwiches, pastries and of course, scones.
Like I said, this was my first time at Josephine’s of Nottingham, so I was surprised that it offered more than just tea.
I tried Moroccan mint tea for the first time in my lie and loved it so much that I didn’t want to try anything else.
Mint tea is my absolute favourite tea because it’s so refreshing. But, there was something different about this tea. It just tasted . . . mintier.
My niece encouraged me to sip on some of their fruity tea offerings and I enjoyed those as well.
What About The Food?
The variety of sandwiches were incredibly tasty. I also ate the most delicious scone ever. It was hot from the oven and, even though it was vegan, tasted divine.

The tea house offers much more than sandwiches, like beef bourguignon, fish pies and Yorkshire pudding.
The only reason we didn’t indulge on the heartier options is because we had dinner plans later that evening.
I am really glad we went to Josephine’s of Nottingham. It didn’t disappoint at all and actually stands out as one of the highlights of my trip to Nottingham.

I can’t wait to return.
By the way, if you plan to visit on the weekend, which is Josephine’s of Nottingham’s busiest time, I would strongly suggest you make reservations. This place gets busy.
That is one of the reasons we decided to go on a Tuesday instead, and even then, they had a nice crowd.
