I think you’re going to like it here.
I’m Rogan. I’m a Bahamian gyal living in Washington, DC. I’m originally from Nassau, Bahamas, land of 700 islands. So, I really am a Bahama Mama.
This Bahamian Gyal is a passion project of mine that I created in December 2017 as a vehicle to share my life, talent and creativity with the world. This blog started out as what I refer to as creative jambalaya. In the beginning, I loved discussing life, love, career, faith and even giving my rundowns of my favourite reality TV shows.
It has since evolved into a beauty, humour and lifestyle platform. I showcase Big Hair, Bold Looks and Big Laughs. I also show my readers how to Break the Internet Without Breaking The Bank.
When I first started out, I spent a great deal of time online looking for a place that was fun-filled and positive, but didn’t take itself too seriously. Because I couldn’t find that place, I decided to create it.
I designed This Bahamian Gyal to be the place you come to when you need to laugh, feel uplifted, get beauty and life advice and to also share your dreams with someone who just gets it.
While here, you’re going to come across a lot of Bahamian vernacular – our special dialect. So, if something seems grammatically incorrect, chances are, it’s just a nod to the way we speak. The Bahamian dialect is my absolute favourite. It’s funny, quirky and can make the simplest things sound creative. You may also see some words that are spelled the British way. It’s one of the remaining vestiges of our past colonial life. I hope you enjoy learning about me and my culture.
Thanks for stepping inside. Take your time looking around. Just don’t tief nothing.
XOXO,
Rogan aka This Bahamian Gyal[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
