Joy Reid should have never cried on TV. I already know what you’re going to say. But, hear me out.
MSNBC fired Reid this week amid a programming overhaul. The former TV anchor then devoted her final hours at the network saying goodbye and urging her viewers to resist President Donald Trump’s presidency.
If you watched her programme, TheReidOut with any regularity, you’d know that the firebrand progressive was not shy about her hatred for Trump.
She often likened him to a fascist and stated multiple times that he was a threat to democracy. Even in her show’s final hours she warned that fascism was already here.
She’s not alone.

Many liberal commentators echo Reid’s sentiments. In fact, many Trump supporters have already expressed deep regrets about voting for him last November.
Donald Trump Calls Joy Reid A “Mentally Obnoxious Racist”
Upon hearing the news, Trump, in typical Donald Trump fashion, launched into a petty tirade where he eagerly packed heaping mounds of salt into Reid’s fresh wounds.
To be fair, these two have history.
He also took aim at Reid’s MSNBC colleagues, notably Rachel Maddow and Al Sharpton who offered support following her termination.
“Lowlife chairman of ‘Concast.’ Brian Roberts, the owner of ratings challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid,” Trump said.
“Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been ‘canned’ long ago, along with everyone else who works there.”

Trump’s Hypocrisy On Full Display
I could barely focus on Trump’s Twitter post due to the hypocrisy of his words.
The president is the last person in the world who should be calling anyone a racist given his storied past with the Black community in America.
This is the same man who was sued for discriminating against Black apartment seekers in the 1970s because he did not want them living in his buildings.
He was also stirred the racial pot during the Central Park Five rape case in the 1980s where five Black and Hispanic men were wrongly convicted and imprisoned for the 1989 rape of a white jogger in New York’s Central Park.
During a presidential debate with former US Vice President, Kamala Harris, Trump incorrectly stated that the men had killed a person and pleaded guilty. In late 2024, those men sued Trump for defamation.
The president was also a prominent voice in the “birther” conspiracy where he claimed that former president, Barack Obama was not born in the United States.
These are just a fingernail tip of examples of Trump’s racist past. So, for him to call Reid a racist is quite rich.
With all that is going on in the US, it makes me question how Trump has the time to even comment on a TV anchor’s firing.
But, we have to remember he has an axe to grind. During his first and second presidency, MSNBC anchors led the charge in verbally attacking him every day. Reid was no exception.
Reading Trump’s comments, I understand fully why so many people dislike him. He just can’t help himself. He always has to get gutter.
I couldn’t imagine Barack Obama, who was often criticised in the most offensive ways, taking to social media to call anyone low IQ.
Why Is Joy Reid Crying A Problem?

But, back to my earlier statement that Reid should not have cried after her firing. Many of you might wonder why I would say that.
After all, nobody likes to be fired. It’s life-altering and upsetting. I couldn’t agree more.
But, Reid is in a cutthroat industry. The news business, much like show business, is not for the weak. She knows that.
She had a public loss, but she didn’t have to lose herself publicly.
Her crying gave her enemies an opportunity to pick her apart publicly, much like her nemesis Megyn Kelly did on her own SiriusXM show.
Kelly’s taunting was so bad that former CNN anchor, Don Lemon intervened and told Kelly to go f— herself.
Lemon later called Kelly the worst person on television and also called her a racist.
Reid Made It Easy For Her Enemies To Attack Her
Reid was no angel. I’d be lying if I said I was a fan.
I found her to be brash, abrasive, and at times bigoted towards white people.
She often laughed at white people’s pain and chalked it up to them crying “white tears.”
When you’re that person who laughs at other people’s misery and pain, you can’t take a public tumble and expect sympathy.
Reid’s enemies were all too happy to tear her down and she gave them another excuse to do just that.
That image of the former MSNBC host crying will likely become a meme and unfortunately will be her enemies’ go-to photo when they want to make fun of her.
Never let your enemies see you cry.
