We look damned good for 45.
The Bahamas has come a long way since our days as a British colony.
I remember listening to my grandmother years ago as she shared stories of life in The Bahamas under British rule.
She showed me an old British passport, shared old letters between her and my grandfather where they talked about shilling and pence, it’s crazy.
It still gives me a source of pride to see old footage of the Union Jack being lowered and the Bahamian flag being raised. When I was younger, I hated the way our flag looked. I thought it was so boring. Now, I revel in that beautiful gold, black and aquamarine.
Despite its flaws, I love this country and I am so proud to be Bahamian. This really feels like the best country in the world.
Here’s to The Bahamas celebrating many more years to come and to us continuing to have a peaceful, loving, progressive country.
Forward, Upward, Onward, Together.
