Welcome to This Bahamian Gyal. No doubt many of you may have heard of us from viral YouTube videos, interviews or from a podcast. What you don’t know is that this blog is where it all began.
In 2017, our founder, Rogan launched this digital space as a way of sharing her creativity and opinions with the world.
She spent weeks trying to come up with a name.
During a conversation with her niece, Rogan stressed that she wanted a moniker that wasn’t pretentious, but really encapsulated who she was. That’s when the lightbulb went off and This Bahamian Gyal was born. Her niece immediately gave her approval and the rest is history.
This Bahamian Gyal has been nominated for numerous awards and in the beginning, was a go-to site for travellers who wanted honest advice on travel to The Bahamas, DC and the surrounding area.
It has since evolved into not only lifestyle content, but offers social commentary on race, politics and culture.
