Welcome to This Bahamian Gyal – a creator-led platform offering honest, actionable insight into YouTube strategy, monetization, and the realities of building a sustainable channel.
Founded by YouTuber and storyteller Rogan, we break down growth, the creator economy, and turning content into a long-term business.
No gimmicks. No fluff. Just real advice to help you own your channel and your creative journey.
This space was born from my own YouTube journey — full of trial, error, and lessons learned the hard
way. Here, I share what actually works, what doesn’t, and the strategies most creators discover only after
years of figuring it out. Think of it as your shortcut to building a channel that grows, makes money, and
stands the test of time.

A Little Background
If you’ve found me through YouTube, a viral clip, an interview, or a podcast, here’s a little plot twist: this blog came first. Back in December 2017, I started this site as a creative outlet — a place to share my opinions without filters or sponsorship pressure. I wanted a name that felt like me, not something polished or pretentious.
At my core, I’m just a Bahamian gyal. After weeks of brainstorming, I thought of This Bahamian Gyal, ran it by my niece for approval, and the rest is history. In the early days, the site became a go-to for travelers seeking honest advice about my home, The Bahamas, and where I live now, Washington, DC. Over time, the content grew into lifestyle pieces and social commentary — touching on race, politics, pop culture, and whatever else felt worth talking about.
Fast Forward To Today
Today, the focus has shifted — because so has my work. Now, This Bahamian Gyal is all about YouTube: how channels actually grow, how creators really make money, and what no one tells you about navigating the platform long-term.
I write about strategy, monetization, the creator economy, algorithm changes, and the mindset needed to turn content into a sustainable business.
This space is for creators who:
1. Want clarity, not cookie-cutter advice
2. Care about sustainability more than virality
3. Are building something with intention
No gimmicks. No guru talk. Just real YouTube strategy.
