If you’re on Instagram or Pinterest, then you’ve definitely seen colourful pics of White Limozeen, Nashville’s Dolly Parton-themed rooftop bar.
The pink-infused restaurant and bar, which features French cuisine and craft cocktails, sits atop Graduate Nashville and boasts spectacular panoramic views of Nashville’s skyline.
White Limozeen is a fitting homage to the country music legend. Not only is the bar named after Dolly’s 29th solo studio album of the same name, but it features images and sculptures all over the hotel and restaurant as tribute.
My best friend and I decided to go to Nashville as a sort of pre-birthday celebration trip (Virgos rule), and as a huge Dolly Parton fan, I placed White Limozeen at the top of my to-do list.
Full disclosure, while I had high hopes for White Limozeeen, somewhere tucked in the back of my mind was this nagging feeling that once I got there, it would have been a total letdown. We’ve all seen those spots on Instagram that get you all excited, only to turn out to be a big, fat disappointment.
I’m happy to report that White Limozeen was not. It was everything I expected and more.
Let’s talk about the ambience – Dolly Parton would be proud
I didn’t fall in love with the colour pink until I went to Nashville. For some reason, the thought of going to White Limozeen had me all in my girlie feelings.
The bar – in a word – is fabulous. It has a vintage glam-bohemian vibe. Its playful pink colours, mirrored chandeliers, velvet lounges, larger-than-life artwork, plants and fun sculptures ensured that every nook and cranny was photographed by eager influencers.
The bar features a round, velvet bed that everyone took advantage of. Women and young girls were lining up to snap fun pics on the bed. I noticed a few stains on the bed and I’m a tad bit OCD, so I decided not to lie down. That was a bummer, because I really had my heart set on getting a cute shot with my bestie. But, the stainsssss. Nah, son.
In the middle of the room sits a sexy rose-coloured onyx bar where craft cocktails were being concocted.
My favourite spot was outside the restaurant on the rooftop. I spotted scores of pink and white umbrellas standing guard over a small, but gorgeous pool.
Of course, the showstopper was the pink chicken wire bust of Dolly Parton. Looking at photos online, I thought the bust was made of fish net. It was only when I got up close that I realised what it was.
The food was an absolute hit
Surely a place this popular and so aesthetically pleasing couldn’t serve good food, right? Well, that’s what I thought. I’m happy to report that once again, I was wrong.
I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to food, and my best friend, who doesn’t have the most sophisticated palate – her words, not mine – doesn’t like to stray too far from her steaks. So, my jaw hit the ground when she ordered the smoked salmon. It was delicious. How do I know, you ask? Because I stole off of her plate.
She also had the Anti Hero cocktail – a Grey Goose strawberry and lemongrass concoction with Campari, strawberry, lemongrass, pineapple and lime. It must have been damn good, too, because she ordered several.
I started with a salad, and later settled on Le Burger – a short rib blend with bacon, creme de brie, caramelised onions, relish and frisbee on a potato bun. I ordered that with fries, which my friend stole.
Let me tell you that this was no ordinary burger. I don’t know what kind of Voodoo they did, but that was hands down one of the most mouthwateringly delicious burgers I have ever eaten.
I washed it down with a delicious Secret Garden mocktail. It was a refreshing drink that featured cucumber, lemon and pineapple. So yummy!
I love that they serve a variety of cute and catchy cocktails and mocktails. I’m not much of a drinker, so I always head straight to the latter.
What to expect?
If you’re looking for a quiet spot to eat in peace, you may not find it here. While White Limozeen is not noisy – at least, it certainly wasn’t when we were there – you will find a steady stream of bloggers, vloggers, content creators and future brides and bridesmaids walking around.
Nashville is the unofficial Bachelorette City, at least as far as I’m concerned, so women with cowboy hats, cowboy boots are always in and out of this spot.
I love the easygoing, unpretentious atmosphere. I don’t know, for some reason, the minute I hear French cuisine, I envision a snooty waiter with his nose in the air. The waiters here were fabulous, professional and incredibly accommodating.
What to wear at White Limozeen?
Ok, before I tell you want to wear at White Limozeen, let me tell you that I spent most of my trip shopping for a pink dress to wear. I think I was starting to get on my friend’s nerves. But, when I am determined to get something, I am relentless.
I had bought a number of pink bodysuits and shirts to wear, but I knew I needed to wear something more va-va-va room, something more…. Dolly.
Luckily, I found a store that I had been looking for, called Blush Boutique Gulch on 12th Avenue South. I walked in and asked the store associate, Ashton for a pink dress. She showed me one that was a deep fuchsia that looked like something a vampire bride would wear.
Sensing my disappointment, she said, “oh, we do have one more, but it’s a pale pink – almost like a babydoll dress.” She pointed to the dress and it was exactly what I wanted – a pink asymmetric ruffled poplin dress. The price – $83. Sold!
I paired that with some brown leather cowboy boots I had bought the day before and my outfit was set.
The dress code
As for the dress code, here’s my advice. While you are free to wear what makes you happy, I would certainly strongly advise you to wear something fun, girlie and memorable. This is a fun spot. You want photos that you’re going to be happy with, so why not get your Dolly Parton on and have fun.
Most of the girls and women who came to White Limozeen were wearing cowboy boots and hats, some sort of frilly dress or some cute getup. I would definitely save my best outfit for the bar, if I were you.
Do I need a reservation at White Limozeen?
Reservations are required and they fill up fast at White Limozeen, so I would strongly suggest you make a reservation. Luckily, we made our reservation two days in advance and that was sufficient time to get in.
You can score outdoor seating on a. first-come, first-serve basis.
When my friend and I arrived, we were immediately seated inside. I noticed nearly all of the tables had reserved signs on them and people who were trying to get in, were put on a waitlist for outside. It was an extremely hot day, so I felt for them.
The restaurant is open daily for lunch, dinner and drinks, plus weekend brunch.
All in all, I am so happy that we decided to visit White Limozeen in Nashville. It exceeded our expectations and filled our bellies.
It also got me the closest to Dolly Parton that I will ever be.
I love to travel, and cannot wait to go back to Nashville. There’s so much to do.
XOXO,
This Bahamian Gyal
