Summer is the perfect time to show off your bandana styles, especially if you have natural hair. For years, I took these beautiful printed scarves for granted.
I never knew what to do with them, so I constantly tied them in one boring style. Recently, I started experimenting with a few styles and decided to record a YouTube how-to video.
I know so many women and girls with natural hair struggle to find fun, cute styles to wear. So, I’m giving some to them.
One of the best things about bandanas is that they come in a wide variety of colours – from the lightest to the deepest blues, purples, browns, greens, reds and my personal favourite, yellow.
One thing I have to point out is that bandanas are made of cotton, so they can be quite drying on natural hair. They tend to suck every bit of moisture out of your hair. So, be careful.
If you’re wearing the scarves as a headband, however, you should be ok. But, if you are wearing it in a style that covers the majority of your hair, wear a satin or silk scarf underneath. That will protect your strands.
In my tutorial, which you can watch down below, I also threw in a few other ways that you can style your bandana. We are in COVID-19 times, so many people are using bandanas as face masks. In the video, I show you how to tie it.
There’s also a tutorial for creating a neck tie.
Be sure to leave a comment and tell me what you think about the tutorial.
