At the start of the year, it’s easy to make plans. The year is new, ideas are fresh and we’re feeling super motivated. But, as the months drag on, the motivation wanes.
We’re now halfway through the year. So, this is a great time to reassess your life and figure out if you’ve already met your life goals or are close to meeting them.
If not, there’s still time to execute your plans. Look, things happen. Life gets in the way, finances change, emergencies happen, but you have to stay the course to achieve your goals in one way or another.
It’s important to remember that we have the power to design the lives that we want. We can have the extraordinary life that we’ve always dreamt of, but we have to make the effort to see it through.
In December 2020, weary from the pandemic, I made a decision to do several things, one of which was to write a book. The second was to continue putting in the work to grow and monetise my YouTube channel. By the way, if you’re not subscribed yet, please do so. And finally, I said I wanted to open my own Etsy shop.
I am proud to say that I have finished writing my first book. It is currently being edited. Secondly, my YouTube channel, This Bahamian Gyal, is extremely close to being monetised. And thirdly, I am in the process of stocking my new Etsy shop.
I planned for these things and I made sacrifices to make them happen. I’ve had many setbacks, emotional and financial, but I immediately recalibrated and moved forward.
Headwinds will come, but you have to keep moving forward. Especially if it’s something you really want.
I believe very strongly in writing down my plans. I love making lists. If you frequent this blog or my YouTube channel, you would know that I live my life by lists. There’s something to be said about writing down your goals. When you see your words staring back at you, you will be compelled to get things done. And if you don’t, your words will serve as a constant reminder. Embarrassingly so.
Even if you have not met all of your goals for the year, you still have time. Don’t be afraid to pivot. You still have time. Six months to be exact. Good luck!
