Sooooo about last night. I got nominated for an Elevation Award for Blog of The Year. (Happy dance). Yaaaaay!!!
This year has been insane.
I launched This Bahamian Gyal earlier this year basically as a creative outlet to share my writing. I had no idea that it would end up being nominated for awards. This is my second so far.
I don’t know what to say other than I’m grateful. It feels so good to be recognized for all of my work.
Organizers say they had some 2,000 creatives submit for various categories. So, they had their work cut out for them. Hearing that figure makes me even more grateful.
I can honestly say that I have never attended a nomination party like the one held last night. It was well-organized, live and lit with live streaming and entertainment. I even got the chance to meet one of my favorite Bahamian comedians, “Das Quay”. He is too funny and down to earth.
I was jamming in front of the cameras as some of the hottest artists blew up the mic.
I could feel the creativity oozing out of the room as musicians, comedians, actors, writers, bloggers and producers came together to celebrate each other. There are a lot of really talented people in this town.
Bahamians have really stepped up their game as far as their art is concerned. I can see the evolution.
The award ceremony isn’t until next year, but I’m already excited.
The competition is stiff. I see a lot of people who I really love and respect. So, whatever happens, happens.
I’m ending 2018 on a stellar note. Eternally grateful.
