When it comes to music, Beyonce can do no wrong. But, when it comes to fashion, well, that’s another story.
The 28-time Grammy winner recently wowed audiences with her recent wins at the Grammy Awards Sunday. But, while many praised her look at the awards show, I felt it was underwhelming.
Beyonce sported a black leather mindress with a sweetheart neckline, which was designed by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli.
She paired it with 6-inch platform heels, gold and black drop earrings, gloves and blonde voluminous hair, which was my favourite part.
I think from the neck up, Beyonce looked incredible. She’s a gorgeous woman with beautiful skin. Her hair was very big and wild, which I loved. Beyonce is a Texan, and you know what they say, everything is bigger is Texas. So, it was no surprise that she went big.
But, the dress looked like a Hefty garbage bag. Even though many people – especially her fans – praised this look, I thought it was blah. It made Beyonce’s curvy body appear very boxy and the black tights and stilettos with the ankle wrap just was too much.
This outfit actually made Beyonce look very heavy and settled and way older than her young 39 years.
I enjoyed her gloves, which had gold accents on the fingertips to mimic nail polish. I thought that was a cute addition. But, again, it added weight to her body.
This Is Not Beyonce’s First Faux Pas
Beyonce is a mom of three and I know in the past she has been criticised for putting on weight. I’m not sure if those criticisms got to her and she felt the need to hide her body, but she shouldn’t have. This look just aged her.
This is also not the first time Beyonce has had a fashion faux pas on the red carpet.
Last year, during her red carpet promotion of The Lion King, she wore a black and white half suit jacket that again added years to her body and weight to her frame. She paired that look with a chunky necklace, which made it even worse.
I feel like Beyonce is so beautiful that she really shines when she wears simple designs.
There are, of course, moments that call for an extravagant look, like another outfit she wore at the Wearable Art Gala. Everything about that look was extravagant, but it was paired with a clean face and sleek hair. She nailed that look. It truly was wearable art.
In 2004, when she and her now husband, Jay-Z first went public at the Video Music Awards (VMAs), Beyonce wore unflattering gold ensemble that made her look a Texas showgirl. The outfit was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Everything was the same colour, from her hair down to her shoes.
In fact, they both looked a mess. Jay-Z coordinated his look with hers, but wore black shoes. Luckily, his style has matured on the red carpet.
Beyonce has had some incredible looks over the course of her career, but this latest Grammy outfit was just not flattering.
XOXO,
