When I’m looking for a protective hairstyle – one that will keep my hair unmanipulated and healthy, I turn to my trusty two strand twists.
This instantly became my go-to style the second time I chopped off my relaxed hair and I haven’t turned back.
I find the two strand twists to be one of the most versatile styles natural haired women can turn to to and the best part is, it’s easy to install and easy to maintain. All you need is time.
It requires very little items to get started. You just need a spray bottle with water, a cream, oil and a comb for parting.
If you’re short on time, you can section off your hair in big parts. That way, you can install the twists quicker. If you want more of a style, you can create medium to small parts.
I like to shampoo and condition my hair before twisting my hair. I tend to do a double process where I two strand large chunks of my hair just so that the hair can air dry properly. Then, I go back in and section off the hair once it’s dry and install smaller twists.
If you want more length to the twists, install them when the hair is dry. If you want a curlier twist, install the twists while your hair is wet.
You also have to commit to clearing out your hair. I like to finger detangle and then go back in with a fine-tooth comb to ensure the hair doesn’t have tangles.
Once you start installing your own twists, you will decide what works best for your hair.
